Consultant & Former Managing Director, Nick UK

Janie GraceA children’s advocate of long standing, Janie Grace started programme making at BBC Radio Sheffield, where she created the station’s first children’s programme.   A move to television followed, in a career that spanned BBC Children’s, TVS, Meridian, Nickelodeon and CITV.   As Managing Director of Nickelodeon in its early years, Janie was instrumental in the decision to commission original productions, notably current affairs, drama and pre-school.  She was also responsible for recognising the potential of a dedicated pre-school block, extending this concept to launch the UK’s first full pre-school channel, Nick Jr. This segmentation strategy also saw the introduction of Nick Replay and paved the way for Nicktoons and Nick Jr.2.

Janie is also a former Managing Director of English National Ballet.  She currently holds various consultancies within children’s television and the arts.   She is a director of Children’s Television Trust International and a Governor of
